Barrett Earns Second Straight Heart Player of the Week Honor

BALDWIN CITY - For the second straight, Sophia Barrett of the Baker women's basketball team was selected Heart of America Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, presented by WinWon, following her performance in the final two games of the regular season last week.

Barrett, a senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, notched a career-high 30 points in an 81-73 victory over Benedictine on Wednesday, going a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line. She followed it up with 15 points and five assists in a huge Senior Day win over William Penn in her final game as a Wildcat.

As a two-time all-conference selection, Barrett has played in over 100 games and amassed over 1,000 points in her four-year career at BU. She eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone earlier this year and averaged 15.2 points per game this season while helping lead an incredible second-half turnaround for the Wildcats.

Barrett averaged 22 points per game in her last eight games, leading a BU squad that won six of their last eight games. Since January, Baker racked up eight conference wins with an 8-5 record in their last 13 games, coming up a win short of making the Heart Conference Tournament after Clarke won on Saturday.

With a 9-17 record overall, the Wildcats improved on their 4-24 record from last year and marked their third-most conference wins (8) of the last six seasons.
