Bio

Martha Harris joined the Baker Athletics department as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) in the Fall of 2013.

She is currently a Professor of Business & Economics at Baker and is a BU graduate, as she graduated with a degree in Business with minor in Economics and Physical Education in 1979.

She then went on to earn her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and is nearly complete with her Masters in Liberal Arts from Baker.

Harris has taught in the business department since 1983, with a few breaks in between to pursue other ventures including spending a year helping with the resolution of failed savings and loan association, working for the Resolution Trust Corporation. She also spent nine months working with the office of the Kansas Attorney General on white-collar crime cases and became a Certified Fraud Examiner.

She has also served as Director of Study Abroad at Baker and has been a part of many committees on campus including, Faculty Representative to the Board of Trustees, Faculty Senate vice chair, President’s advisory council and a member of the Judicial Hearing Board.

Harris has served on several search committees for hiring Baker employees including head football coach, head men’s and women’s basketball coaches, head wrestling coach, University president and EVPAA.

Her family includes husband her Nick, a 1979 Baker graduate and was an assistant football coach at Baker from 1984-1987 with Hall of Fame head coach Charlie Richard.

Martha and Nick have two children Kristin and Brian. Kristin graduated from the Baker school of nursing in 2005 and Brian received his degree from the BU College of Arts and Sciences in 2012.
