Baker Dance Wins Conference Championship, Cheer Finishes 7th at Heart Championships on Saturday

MARSHALL, Mo. – Winning their second Heart of America Conference Championship in the last three years, the Baker dance team took first place on Saturday at the Heart of America Conference Championships, while the cheer team brought home seventh place.

Baker was able to post a prelim score of 90.80, with the next highest score coming from Grand View who posted a score of 89.13.

After watching all of the other teams perform in the finals, the Wildcats stepped up to the challenge and bettered their score by almost two points, putting up a score of 92.50 in the finals for an overall total of 92.08. Baker took home first place, while Grand View came in second with a score of 89.96.

For the cheer portion of the competition, Baker posted a score of 58.11 in the prelims, sitting in front of Mount Mercy who posted a score of 50.00.

Baker then almost gained 10 points in the prelim round, posting a score of 67.48 to post a total score of 65.14 in the competition. The Wildcats finished in seventh place, while Mount Mercy finished in eighth with a score of 56.72. Baker also finished just behind sixth place Peru State who posted a score of 69.85.

The Baker dance team will now host the Regional Qualifier on Friday, Feb. 25th, here inside the Collins Center.
