Baker Cheer Earns Top-Five Finish at UCA College Nationals

ORLANDO - The Baker cheer team opened up its 2025 competition season by competing in the 2025 UCA College Nationals this past weekend in Orlando, Fla.

The Wildcats received a top-five finish in Game Day after placing fifth in Saturday's final round with a score of 89.16.

The event marked the first of six competitions for BU this season before the Heart of America Conference Championships in March. Prior to the conference meet, the Wildcats will host their annual cheer and dance competition with the Baker Classic on March 1.

In their third year under head coach Melissa Shipman, the Wildcats are coming off of a 2024 season that saw them earn their highest finish at the Heart Championships after taking fourth in the competition.

Up next, Baker will compete in back-to-back competitions this weekend, starting off with the Midland Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Fremont, Neb., followed by the Grand View Invite on Sunday (Jan. 26) in Des Moines, Iowa.
