
Baker Dance Takes First, Cheer Finishes Third at 2025 Baker Classic
BALDWIN CITY - Leading off an eventful Saturday in the Collins Center, the Wildcats cheer and dance teams hosted their annual Baker Classic where BU dance earned first-place honors and the BU cheer squad came in third.
With a total of seven teams competing in the dance competition and five on the cheer side, Baker dance came out on top of the first performances of the day with an overall score of 85.50, boasting a 13-point difference between them and runner-up Graceland (71.80).
Baker cheer marked a score of 75.64 in their final regular-season performance and finished ahead of fourth-place Ottawa (69.03). MidAmerica Nazarene (83.41) edged past William Woods (80.45) to win the event.
Along with their hosting duties, both Baker teams celebrated their Senior Day and recognized a total of six seniors between the two squads for their contributions to the BU cheer and dance programs. The dance seniors included, Zach Bejarano, Olivia Chrisman, Katelyn Knaussman, Megan Raach and Wrenn Paden, while sophomore Mallory High, who is moving on to the Baker nursing program, was also recognized. The cheer team honored senior Zoey Schroeter.
Up next for both squads is the 2025 Heart of America Conference Cheer and Dance Championships, hosted by MidAmerica Nazarene this year, with the conference competition set for Saturday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m. in Olathe, Kan.
