Dance Finishes 3rd, Cheer 10th at Thresher Invitational on Saturday

NEWTON, Kan. – On Saturday afternoon, the Baker cheer and dance teams traveled to Newton, Kan., where they competed in two separate competitions at the Thresher Invitational.

The Baker dance team was able to post a big score of 88.77 in the first round, finishing in second place behind Oklahoma City who posted a score of 91.03 in the first round of the day.

Baker then got better in their second performance of the day, posting a score of 89.13 and took third place in the second event, finishing behind Saint Ambrose and Oklahoma City who earned scores of 90.43 and 89.87 respectively.

On the cheer side, the Wildcats put together their first performance of the year and posted a score of 51.53 in the first round to take 10th place. Baker then bettered their score by more than two points in their second round and earned a score of 53.96 to take eighth place in the final event of the day.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 10, when they travel to Olathe, Kan., to compete in the MNU Invitational. The very next day they will host the Baker Classic inside the Collins Center.
