Third Straight Regional Title Sends Wildcats to NAIA Dance Nationals

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Boasting back-to-back regional titles, the Baker dance team claimed its third straight championship after earning first-place honors at the 2024 Midwest Dance Regionals on Saturday in the Collins Center.

With Baker hosting the eight-team regional competition, the Wildcats totaled an overall score of 90.56 and used a final round score of 91.10 to launch them past runner-up Grand View (88.90), who finished ahead of BU in the prelims with an 89.57.

In their first performance on Saturday, the Wildcats scored an 88.93 in the prelims to position themselves between the Vikings and William Penn (80.63) before coming out on top of the final round that featured Graceland (83.69) placing third behind BU and GVU.

Saturday's results served as a bit of redemption for a BU squad that finished behind conference champion Grand View at the 2024 Heart Cheer & Dance Championships a couple of weeks ago. The Wildcats came in third in the Heart competition and continued their streak of finishing in the top three in every conference championship since 2016 with three league titles over that time.

Making its eighth straight appearance, Baker earns an automatic bid to the 2024 NAIA National Dance Championships and will prepare for the national competition, which takes place on March 29-30 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
