Baker Cheer and Dance Come Away with Runner-Up Finishes at DTU College Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Baker cheer and dance teams secured a pair of runner-up honors at the 2024 DTU College Classic this past weekend in Orlando, Fla. where the Wildcats boasted two additional top-four finishes in the dance competition.

Baker dance claimed second place in the Team Performance category after earning a final score of 89.00, tallying a couple more points than their championship-winning score (86.43) from last year's event.

The Wildcats followed up their Friday prelim score of 85.42 with a solid finals performance that inched them closer to frontrunner St. Ambrose, who won the event with a 91.66.

The BU cheer team came away with a second-place trophy in the All-Girl division for the second straight season, finishing with a 79.70 for the weekend. They took second at the DTU College Classic in 2023.

In the Jazz competition, the Wildcats finished third among a top-three that was separated by three points with Avila (92.86) and Graceland (90.74) edging out a Baker squad that recorded a final score of 89.74. Baker added a fourth-place showing in Hip Hop with a score of 87.78.

Both teams close out a 2024 competition season that saw the Wildcats earn third place at the NAIA Dance Championships in late March as well as a pair of top-four finishes at the Heart Cheer and Dance Championships where the dance team placed third and cheer came in fourth.
