Baker Esports Overwatch Team Ranked 1st Heading into NECC Playoffs

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker University Esports Overwatch team is in first place heading in the NECC Fall Conference series. The team has received a bye in the first round and will compete on Thursday, December 2, against Valpo Beacon who defeated JWU Yellow in the first round.

The Baker squad of eight is made up of team captain, senior Chance Prosser, newcomers sophomore Tanner Twillman, freshman Grace Boyer, and returners senior Kelsey Dame, junior Emma Leach, sophomore Kyle Newman, and freshmen Will Lanear and Tabari Johnson.

"This team has really been focused on strategies and research," head coach Toby Ebel said. "Overwatch is a huge game with 32 characters, each with different abilities, and several maps, all of which lead to a huge number of variables with which players need to become familiar. So far, we have done that well and we hope it continues throughout the playoffs."

The Overwatch team is known for great communication and execution, which has helped propel them to the top of the leaderboards. This season, they posted record of 6-1-0 with a differential of 14.

With a win on December 2nd, the Baker Overwatch team would advance to the finals which would be held on December 5th.
