Wildcats Fall to Defending National Champs Ottawa, 53-6 at Home

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After getting a win in last week's program debut, the Baker women's flag football faced a tough task in taking on the three-time defending NAIA champions Ottawa and fell to the Braves, 53-6 here Tuesday evening inside Liston Stadium

The Braves scored 35 points in the first half and tacked on three more scores in the second half to run away with a huge victory in the first meeting between the two teams. OU quarterback Madysen Carrera threw for 245 yards and seven touchdowns with four of them coming in the first half of play.

The Wildcats scored a touchdown right before the half with quarterback Sanija Waller leading a nice drive down the field that resulted with teammate Jaylin Harris going up top to grab a seven-yard touchdown to make it 35-6, OU at the half.

Carrera added a few more touchdown passes in the second half with her final one coming early in the fourth quarter to seal the scoring at 53-6.

Waller finished going 23-for-35 with over 150 yards (154) and added 38 yards on the ground. Janai Ferdinand caught a team-high eight passes for 26 yards, while Destiny Martinez hauled seven receptions for 38 yards.

Baker will head out for its first-ever road game with a matchup at Cottey set for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. in Nevada, Mo.
