Kaley Phillips Named KCAC Defenisve Player of the Week
BALDWIN CITY - Kaley Phillips of the Baker women's flag football team was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week following her performance in the Wildcats' 20-19 victory at Kansas Wesleyan last week.
Phillips, who is in her first year at BU since transferring from Hesston, made an incredible game-winning interception with :30 seconds left to seal Baker's big road win at KWU on Wednesday.
With the Coyotes driving, the junior from West Palm, Fla. jumped a 3rd-and-goal pass and made a diving pick in the endzone to preserve the one-point victory for the Wildcats and keep their perfect 4-0 conference record intact.
It marks the team's second conference player of the week award this season after teammate Tara Llonte earned offensive honors a couple of weeks ago.
Phillips and the Wildcats will open up a three-game homestand with Ottawa coming to town for a KCAC matchup on Tuesday, March 18. Kickoff from Liston Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
