Men’s Basketball Earns NABC Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Baker men's basketball team was recognized as a recipient of the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award as announced by the organization on Monday.

Additionally, the Wildcats had eight players named to the NABC Honors Court with Max Black, Braden Griffiths, Ty Henry, Korey Jones, Mason Mecke, Brodie Pollock, Cason Richardson and Dylan Smith all receiving the academic honor.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The NABC's academic awards recognize teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball.

In 2023-24, the Wildcats posted a team GPA of 3.16, while having another stellar year on the court as well. Baker went 23-10 overall this past season and earned the program's first-ever NAIA postseason win with a victory over No. 7 SAGU in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament.
