Women’s Golf Places Fifth, Men Take Sixth at Conference Preview

MORAVIA, Iowa – Getting a first look at the site of the 2024 Heart of America Conference Golf Championships, the Baker golf teams competed at the Conference Preview at The Preserve on Lake Rathbun in Moravia, Iowa earlier this week where the women's team took fifth place overall and the men came in sixth.

The Wildcat women recorded a 681 as a team, finishing a few strokes behind Park (667) who placed fourth. Mount Mercy won the women's event with a score of 638, while William Penn (642) and Grand View (659) rounded out the top five.

Reagan Kauth paced the women's side with a tournament score of 160, shooting a team-best 79 in the final round to place eighth overall among the field of 58 conference golfers. Mallory Nelson also had a solid showing on the final day, marking an 81 on Tuesday to finish tied for 19th. Olivia Morgan tied for 27th after shooting an 86 on the opening round, while Gracyn Nutsch and Katie Murray followed closely behind with respective finishes of 32nd and 34th.

For the Baker men, they shot under 300 as a team on the final day to finish with a score of 603, just two strokes behind fifth-place Missouri Valley (601). MidAmerica Nazarene took first in the men's competition with a winning score of 575.

The Wildcats featured three golfers within the top-20 finishers with freshman Gavin Dines leading the way with a score of 148, tying him for 12th overall. Cole Fischman and Andrew Burdett both finished tied for 17th after turning in matching scores of 150. Ben Lemke and Carson Floersch also matched each other on the score card with the pair tallying a 156 and tying for 34th.

With the women's team concluding the fall portion of their 2023-24 season, the BU men will wrap up its fall with the Battle in the Ozarks on Oct. 30-31 at Old Kinderhook Resort in Camdenton, Mo.
