Wildcats Earn Top-Five Finish at Heart Men’s Golf Championship

MORAVIA, Iowa - Posting their highest finish in five years, the Baker men's golf team placed fifth at the 2024 Heart Men's Golf Conference Championship with an overall score of 888 as the two-day tournament wrapped up play here Tuesday in Moravia, Iowa.

The Wildcats marked identical scores of 295 in their first two rounds on Monday to finish in fifth place after a day of play. In the final round, BU shot 298 to hold steady and come away with a fifth-place finish, the team's best outing at the conference tournament since placing third in 2019.

Leading Baker in scoring were Cole Fischman (+4) and Drew Lisec (+5), who finished in back-to-back spots just outside the top-20, with Fischman placing 21st and Lisec following in 22nd. Matching each other on the first day, the only difference between their scoring cards for the tournament came in Tuesday's round where Fischman finished a stroke ahead with a 74.

Gavin Dines (+8) shot a team-best 71 in the first round before tying for 25th in the tournament with a score of 224. Gabe McKeown (+13) shot four over par in his first and third rounds on the course and finished tied for 37th. Entering as a substitute, Trey Sauder shot a 73 in Tuesday's finale.

Baker wraps up a promising 2024 spring campaign that saw them capture a team title at the Park Invite in March and have four different golfers lead them in team scoring during the regular season.
