Wildcats Post Top-Five Finishes at Battle at the Dance

WINDSOR, Colo. - Both Baker golf squads turned in top-five performances at Hasting's Battle at the Dance, held at the Raindance National Golf Course in Windsor, Colo. earlier this week.

The BU women posted matching scores in both rounds (+52) to finish in fourth place in the team standings, 10 strokes behind third-place Doane (+94). The Wildcats have finished in the top four on the women's side in all three of their tournaments this fall with a runner-up finish at the Virginia McCoy Invite last week and another fourth-place outing at the Sand Creek Station tournament to start the year.

Reagan Kauth (+19) was the top scorer for the Baker women's team, closing out her tournament with an 80 in the final round to place ninth among a field of over 50 golfers.

Izabelle Backstrom (+24) and Paula Martin-Montero (+26) each had low-80 rounds to finish in the top-20 with Backstrom taking 14th and Martin-Montero following in 18th. Ally Laverty (+36) just missed out on a top-25 spot and placed 26th, while Madison Zubeck (+51) shot an 88 on Monday's opening round and finished 38th overall for the tournament.

On the men's side, Baker (+69) rounded out the top five with an excellent second round that saw them shoot a combined score of 302. The fifth-place finish was the highest finish for the BU men this year after they took sixth at the Virginia McCoy Invite and came in 16th at the NAIA Midwest Invite.

Gavin Dines (+5) earned an eighth-place finish after starting off his tournament by hitting even par in his first two rounds at Raindance before totaling an overall score of 221.

Drew Lisec (+15) placed 18th among the field and had his best round of 18 come in the second round where he posted a score of 73. Keegan Feder (+19) started off with a 77 and a 76 in his first two rounds before finishing in 26th. Carson Schlup (+31) took 40th with a consistent scoreline of 83-81-83 in his second competition of the fall.

Baker will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule with the Heart's Conference Preview on Oct. 21-22 with the tournament being played at the Nicklaus Club at Lionsgate in Overland Park, Kan.
