Wildcats Score Four Unanswered to Earn Road Win at Culver-Stockton, 4-2

CANTON, Mo. – After facing a two-goal deficit, the (RV) Baker men's soccer team rattled off four straight goals to capture a 4-2 victory on the road at Culver-Stockton on Saturday.

Trailing at halftime for the first time this conference season, Baker scored three goals in the second half, including Gyorgy Kamaras' game-winner in the 72nd minute, to earn its third straight win against a Heart opponent.

BU's goals came from four different players with Sahal Arwo, Mason Anderson and Hunter French joining Kamaras on the scoreboard. It was the first goal of the year for Anderson, while Kamaras' gives him 12 total for the season which ranks fourth in all of NAIA.

Baker held a 14-9 advantage in shots and an 8-5 margin in corner kicks with its first goal coming off of a set piece.

Playing the first match of the Saturday night soccer doubleheader, it was Culver-Stockton who came out with a fast start, earning a couple of corner kicks in the first minute before scoring its first goal in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Then, C-SC looked to have a comfortable cushion heading into halftime after making it a two-score game with a goal in the 42nd minute.

However, Baker would get a crucial response before the first half whistle as a BU throw-in resulted in Arwo notching his second goal of the season to bring the score to 2-1 at the half.

BU carried over the momentum in the second half that featured a high-flying Baker attack that recorded seven shots in the period with three of them finding the back of the net. In the 60th minute, Anderson would net the equalizer on a deflected cross from Fin Gaywood to draw the match level at 2-2.

Baker took its first lead of the match on a penalty that Kamaras drew and the Hungarian forward converted on the ensuing shot to stay a perfect 4-for-4 on PKs this year.

Kamaras would draw a second penalty in the final 10 minutes of the match after slashing his way into the C-SC box and earning the PK. This time it was French who would take the penalty as the senior forward was able to slip a shot past the keeper to give Baker an insurance goal and cap the match at 4-2.

For French, it was his sixth goal of the year and the second straight game he has scored in after recording a goal against Clarke last week.

Staying undefeated in Heart play with a 3-0-1 record, Baker returns to Baldwin City for its next match with a midweek matchup against Benedictine set for Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Hartley Field.
