Kamaras Collects Heart MVP Honors, Joins Dijkhuis on All-Conference Teams

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - After leading the league in scoring by a seven-goal gap, Baker's Gyorgy Kamaras was named the Heart of America Men's Soccer Most Valuable Player of the Year as the conference announced its 2023 Heart Men's Soccer All-Conference teams and major awards on Wednesday afternoon.

Receiving the Heart Offensive Player of the Year award as well, Kamaras was one of two Wildcats to land on the postseason list with his third straight first team all-conference selection. Falco Dijkhuis was selected to the All-Heart Third Team for the second time in back-to-back seasons.

Kamaras, a junior from Mogyorod, Hungary, racked up 18 goals during the regular season with three of those coming on hat tricks, including a four-goal outing against Baptist Bible in the season opener. With four assists on the season, he totaled a league-high 40 points to finish 15 points higher than the next Heart player (25). He ranks fourth among all NAIA goal scorers and has registered 81 shots this year which ranks third nationally. Kamaras was named the Heart Freshman of the Year in 2021.

Making 17 starts in his junior campaign, Dijkhuis anchored a Baker backline that posted five shutouts this season and allowed just two goals through the first six matches of the fall. The third-year player from Groningen, Netherlands also tallied three assists in 2023, all coming in conference play, including dishing out two assists against Clarke on Sept. 23.

The all-conference duo joins the rest of the BU men's soccer team as the eighth-seeded Wildcats prepare for the upcoming Heart of America Conference Tournament with a quarterfinals matchup against top-seed Missouri Valley set for Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.
