Baker Tennis Teams Set to Compete in 2022 Conference Championships

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After a strong regular season, the Baker men's and women's tennis teams will compete in the 2022 Tennis Conference Championships, beginning Thursday, April 21 in Springfield, Mo., and will conclude with the championship on Saturday, April 23.

The men will be the No. 13 seed and will take on No. 4 Missouri Valley in the first round at 1 p.m., on Thursday, April 21, at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

The Baker women have earned the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 Missouri Valley at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, April 22, at the Gillenwaters Tennis Complex.

The 2022 Heart Tennis Championships will feature 13 men's teams and nine women's teams, consisting of teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference, American Midwest Conference, the Red River Athletic Conference and the Sooner Athletic Conference. All four conferences have combined to create an unaffiliated conference grouping for this postseason event.

Two men's teams will earn an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championship tournament, which will be awarded to the two teams that advance all the way to the Championship round.

On the women's side, the championship winning team will earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships.

Each tournament will also hand out some hardware as the First and Second Team All-Conference men's singles players will be awarded to ten student-athletes. There will be 6 women's singles players honored for both First and Second Team All-Conference.

The 2022 Men's and Women's Player of the Year will be awarded as well.
