
Wildcats Open 2024 Fall with Trio of Tournaments
SALINA, Kan. - The Baker men's and women's tennis teams kicked off the fall portion of their 2024-25 season recently with the MVC Invite in the season opener and a couple of tournaments this past weekend with the ITA Regionals and KWU Invite.
On Sept. 13-14, the Wildcats opened up the fall in Marshall, Mo. where Juan Manuel Avila, River Flaska and Corvin Christ eached earned a win on the men's side, while Dayna Steadman won one of her three matches in the women's group play.
Steadman teammed up with freshman Abbie Linn to win a quarterfinals match in doubles before falling in the semifinals round.
This past weekend, the Wildcats followed up their season opener with a busy weekend in Salina, Kan., beginning with the ITA Regionals on Friday. Avila picked up an 8-2 win in his consolation match of the ITA tournament.
On Saturday, BU sent a contingent to compete in the KWU Invite, hosted by the Coyotes. Clare Longfoss won her first-round matchup by a score of 9-7, while newcomer Kaleb Nelson earned a 6-4 win in his consolation match.
The Wildcats will close out fall action with the Hastings Invite scheduled for Oct. 4-5 in Hastings, Neb.
