Bell, Woodall Gear Up for NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Baker track and field program will send a pair of Wildcats – Tajanique Bell and Tavius Woodall – to compete in three events at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 2-4, held inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.
Fresh off a silver-medal performance at the Heart of America Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 18, Woodall will race in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the national meet this weekend. He marked career-high times at the Heart Championships with his 200m time (21.83) that earned him conference runner-up ranking 31st amongst the national qualifiers, while sitting at 33rd in the 60m with a top time of 6.89 seconds.
Woodall, who hails from Houston, Texas, was an NJCCA outdoor national qualifier for Fort Scott Community College in the 100-meter dash last season.
Bell makes a return to the NAIA Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles after qualifying for last year's Nationals where she took 21st overall in the event. She placed third at the conference meet a couple of weeks ago, clocking a new personal best (8.66) that puts her just on the edge of the top-10 on the heat sheet with the 11th-fastest time coming into the contest.
The senior hurdler from San Diego, Calif. was an indoor and outdoor national qualifier for the Wildcats in 2021-22, her first year at Baker following a stint at Southwestern (Calif.) Community College.
The NAIA Championships are set to begin on Thursday, March 2 with the multi-events getting underway at 12 p.m. Bell and Woodall will compete on Friday, March 3 in the semifinals of their respective races with a chance to move on to Saturday's finals.
