Wildcats Close Out Indoor Regular Season at Ichabod Invitational

TOPEKA, Kan. – Wrapping up a six-meet indoor regular season, the Baker track and field teams traveled to Washburn for the second straight weekend, competing in the Ichabod Invitational on Saturday in the final competition before the conference meet.

For the first time this season, Trot Wood clocked a time under 22 seconds in the 200-meter dash after sprinting to a time of 21.98 to place him 14th overall in the event. Wood's time puts him among the top-seven 200m times in the Heart this season.

Jacob McGlasson finished just a few ticks above the two-minute mark in the men's 800-meter race, recording a time of 2:00.78 to finish in 42nd. Sam Slife gave BU a top-50 finisher on the women's side of the 800m after placing 50th on a time of 2:38.72.

In the distance races, Brooke Allen's 18th-place finish in the women's 3K highlighted the day for BU with the senior finishing a few seconds off her personal best with an 11:00.59. Kristi Chambers went 11:51.08 and finished in 38th.

Jaden Vohs turned in a top-15 conference time in the mile after going 4:28.36 and finishing 35th in the event. Jana Landreth (5:44.67) and Peyton Peterson (6:00.51) gave the Wildcats a couple of top-50 finishers in the women's mile as well with Landreth finishing in 40th and Peterson following in 49th.

In the field events, Storm Frazier (13th) and Taegen Binkley (15th) each finished among the top-15 in the men's pole vault with Frazier bowing out at the 3.65-meter mark and Binkley going out at the previous height at 3.50 meters.

Gage Hiebert registered his furthest toss in the men's weight throw on his second attempt, going 13.91 meters to place him 24th in the event. Colbie Fairley placed 30th in the women's weight throw with a mark of 13.40 meters.

Up next, the Wildcats head to the 2023-24 Heart Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted on the campus of Northwest Missouri State, on Feb. 16-17. The league meet will open up on Friday with multi and field events starting at 2 p.m., while Saturday's action will begin at 9 a.m., all at the Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo.
