Allen, Sterner, Woodall Earn All-Conference Honors to Highlight Wildcats’ Outing at Heart Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Brooke Allen, Rachel Sterner and Tavius Woodall each took home a bronze medal as Baker track and field competed at the 2024 Heart Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend on the campus of Northwest Missouri State.

The BU women's squad finished eighth in the team standings, while the men's team came in 10th. Benedictine swept the league meet after finishing atop both the men's and women's leaderboard.

Allen recorded a time of 19:01.13 to place 3rd in the women's 5K on Friday and added a sixth-place finish in the 3K in Saturday's finale. The senior from LaCygne, Kan. earned her second all-conference accolade of the season after finishing fourth at the Heart Cross Country Championships this past fall.

Sterner notched a personal-best in the 800-meter run after clocking a two-lap time of 2:23.16, good enough to place her third in the event. She finished 12th in the 600m and was a part of the BU 4x800-meter relay team that placed sixth.

Woodall took third in the 400m with a career-best 49.20 and had teammate Trot Wood finish closely behind him with Wood rounding out the top-five on a time of 49.77, taking a half-second off his previous-best time (50.18). After finishing top-four in both events last year, Woodall just missed on qualifying for the 60m finals and took sixth in the 200m with a time of 21.97.

Naomi Kilson had a solid outing in Maryville after securing three top-eight finishes with her sixth-place showing in the women's 60m serving as the main highlight. She ran a personal best in the 200m with a 26.11 and finished seventh and took eighth in the long jump with her furthest distance coming at 5.29 meters.

In the men's mile race, Jaden Vohs came in sixth on a time of 4:28.41 and Haley Carter came away with a pair of eighth-place finishes in the women's 3K and 5K. Wyatt Allen ran a time of 2:35.87 to place eighth in the men's 1,000-meter race.

Storm Frazier and Jackson Stoppel finished inside the top-10 in the men's pole vault with Frazier bowing out at 4.25 meters and taking seventh, while Stoppel placed ninth on his highest mark of 4.10 meters.

In the men's triple jump, McLane Rawie (13.11m) and Dontez Carr (13.05m) finished in back-to-back spots with Rawie placing seventh and Carr following right behind in eighth.

Kilson (long jump) and Woodall (200m) will represent Baker as national qualifiers for the 2024 NAIA Indoor National Championships, held in Brookings, S.D., on Feb. 29 - March 2.
