Wildcats Fall to No. 14 Missouri Valley, 36-13 in Conference Road Dual

MARSHALL, Mo. – Competing in its first dual of 2024, (RV) Baker men's wrestling fell to No. 14 Missouri Valley, 36-13 on Thursday night in Marshall, Mo.

The Wildcats went 3-5 in their matches against the Vikings after BU forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds with Jonah Muhammad, Joey Hancock and Brett Bober picking up the wins for BU.

After the Vikings got out to a 18-0 lead thru the first four matches, Muhammad earned the Wildcats' first win with a tech fall victory at 157 pounds. Hancock followed with a 15-6 major decision win in the 165-pound bout.

Following an MVC pin at 174 pounds, Bober took down the Vikings' Drake Tipton, who ranks 23rd nationally, in the 184-pound match. Bober, a senior from Burlington, Kan., ranks 13th in the NAIA at 184 pounds.

With the Wildcats working their way back to trail 24-13 heading into the final two matches, the Vikings capped their victory with back-to-back wins in the heavyweight rounds.

Baker will make a return to Marshall for its next competition with the Missouri Valley Invite on Jan. 19-20 with wrestling getting underway at 9 a.m. on both days.
