Bio

After winning a national championship in a Wildcat uniform, Victor Hughes has remained as an assistant coach at Baker University ever since and enters his seventh year on the BU coaching staff.

As a Baker Wildcat, Hughes is one of the winningest wrestlers of all time. He was a 3x National Qualifier, 2x All-American, and National Champion in 2016. He also earned Academic All-American honors and was named HAAC Wrestler of the Year.

Hughes came to Baker University as a highly accomplished high school wrestler from Fort Scott, Kansas. He was a high school folkstyle All-American, and Kansas Freestyle state champion. He competed for Team Kansas in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at nationals. He was a 3x State Qualifier and 2x State Placer.

Hughes and his wife Bailie, a Baldwin elementary school teacher, live in Gardner with their son and daughter.
