Both Cross Country Teams Finish 3rd at Viking Invitational on Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa – On Saturday morning, the Baker cross country teams travelled to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Viking Invitational where both teams brought home a third place finish.

On the women's side, the Wildcats collected a total of 88 points, finishing behind Grand View (55) and Mount Mercy (50). Baker's top runner was Brooke Allen who finished 11th individually and scored seven points with a time of 20:20.90.

Haley Carter finished closely behind scoring eight points with a 12th place finish after posting a time of 20:24.60. Valerie Aceves-Power was able to finish 23 for 19 points, while teammate Jana Landreth took 29th place for 25 points. Rachel Sterner rounded out the scoring for Baker, taking 35th place for 28 points.

The Baker men were also able to finish third with a total scored of 137, finishing behind Mount Mercy (59) and Grand View (21). Baker's lead runner was Adriel Hinojos who finished 17th and scored 16 points with a time of 27:18.85, while Max Dutton finished 23rd and scored 22 points with a time of 27:43.18.

Josh Weghorst and Christopher Jackson finished 34th and 35th respectively, while Luke Persson finished out the scoring for Baker with a 41st place finish.

Both Baker cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Chile Pepper Festival.
