Women Finish Sixth, Men Take Seventh at Heart of America Cross Country Championships

ANKENY, Iowa - The Baker cross country teams traveled to Ankeny, Iowa on Saturday to compete in the Heart of America Conference Cross Country Championships where the Wildcats finished sixth on the women's side and seventh in the men's race.

In the women's 5K race, Baker ran an average time of 20:51 and scored 142 team points to finish sixth, just behind a Central Methodist team that scored 137 team points. Baker's top runner was Brooke Allen who finished in 10th place on a time of 19:40.65 to earn her First Team All-Conference honors.

Haley Carter (20:26.31) and Kristi Chambers (20:50.27) were next to cross the finish line for the Wildcats in 22nd and 30th, respectively. Jana Landreth and Rachel Sterner rounded out Baker's scoring with Landreth running a 21:31.28 and finishing 48th while Sterner followed closely behind with a 21:47.20 and finishing 50th.

On the men's side, Baker totaled 195 points in the team standings with an average time of 27:59. Adriel Hinojos and Max Dutton paced the Wildcats in the 8K race as they finished back-to-back with Hinojos (27:36.10) coming in 32nd and Dutton (27:36.40) following in 33rd.

Christop Jackson raced a 27:45.65 to finish 38th while teammates Luke Persson (45th, 28:07.58) and Josh Weghorst (61st, 28:51.27) capped off the scoring.
