Men’s Cross Country Takes Second, Women Come in Third at Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Baker cross country teams competed at the Southern Stampede, hosted by Missouri Southern, here Friday evening in Joplin, Mo. where the Wildcat men earned a runner-up finish and the women's team placed third.

In the Wildcats' second race of the season, the men's side totaled 84 points and finished behind winner Northwestern Oklahoma (55), while the women (73) rounded out a top-3 that featured Butler CC (52) and Hutchinson CC (52) finishing ahead of them.

Senior Anthony Davis paced the BU men in the 8K race, placing seventh on a time of 28:03.47. He was followed by teammates Jaden Vohs (14th) and Davin Johnson (17th) who each finished within the top-18 runners. The final two point scorers for Baker were Zain Khan and Grayson Fink who came in 23rd and 27th, respectively.

In the women's 5K race, Brooke Allen was first to cross the finish line for BU, marking a time of 19:44.33 to place seventh. Natalie Kennedy (12th) and Haley Carter (16th) each finished around the 20-minute mark, while Jana Landreth (21st) and Peyton Peterson (27th) capped the 73-point outing for the Baker women.

The Wildcats continue with their fall campaign with a trip to the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. in Columbia, Mo.
