JOPLIN, Mo. - After opening up the season at KU a few weeks ago, the Baker cross country teams traveled to Joplin, Mo. on Friday to compete in the 2024 Southern Stampede, hosted by Missouri Southern where both BU squads earned top-10 finishes.

Dealing with some hot weather Friday evening in Joplin, the Wildcat women totaled 329 points and came in 10th in the team standings, finishing one spot ahead of fellow NAIA school Cottey and ahead of a handful of NCAA Division II programs.

Kristi Chambers and Jana Landreth rounded out the scoring for Baker with Chambers running a 21:27.78 and finishing 80th, while Landreth took 86th on a time of 21:40.02.

In the men's 8K race, the Wildcats placed ninth with a total of 276 points with Jaden Vohs (47th) and Anthony Davis (48th) finishing in back-to-back spots to lead the team. Vohs marked the fastest 8K time of his career with a 27:54.02 and Davis crossed just a few seconds behind him at 27:58.30.

Already at the midway point of the season, Baker will head back to the Show-Me State this weekend for the Gans Creek Classic, held at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The men's 8K race will start at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, followed by the women's 6K at 10:15 a.m.
