Massey Named Heart Runner of the Week for Third Time
BALDWIN CITY - For the third time this year - and in back-to-back weeks - Aidan Massey of the Baker men's cross country team was selected Heart Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, presented by BoxOut, following his performance at the 2024 Mike Spielman Classic, hosted by the Wildcats, this past Friday.
Massey, a senior from Olathe, Kan., won his second straight men's 8K race on Friday with his time of 25:44.32 leading the pack of 46 runners at the Baldwin City Golf Course. Massey was the first of five top-10 finishers for BU with the Wildcats sweeping both the men's and women's competition of their annual meet.
Overall, it marks Massey's third conference weekly award this season after receiving the honor for his first-place finish at the Billy Mills Classic last week and joining teammate Haley Carter in sweeping the award following their outing at the Gans Creek Classic in late September.
With the regular season coming to a close on Friday, Massey and the Wildcats will turn their attention to the conference meet with the 2024 Heart of America Cross Country Championships set for Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
