Kira Baker Earns Heart Softball Pitcher of the Week Honors

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Sophomore hurler Kira Baker was selected Heart Softball Pitcher of the Week following her performance in Baker's perfect 6-0 outing at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic last week in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Baker helped lead the Wildcats to three victories in Myrtle Beach with two of them coming on complete game outings. She racked up 31 strikeouts and allowed only one run and six hits in her 17.2 innings in the circle.

The lefty from Eudora, Kan. has picked up right where she left off following a sensational freshman debut last year. She totaled 55 strikeouts already in just 41.2 innings, while boasting a 0.67 ERA and two shutouts this season. As a freshman, she earned First Team All-American honors and received both the NFCA's and Heart's Freshman of the Year award.

Baker and the Wildcats host a non-conference doubleheader with Cottey College on Friday, March 15 in the 2024 home debut for BU. Friday's first pitch is set for 5 p.m. from Cavaness Field in Baldwin City.
