Wildcats Sweep Heart Softball Weekly Awards

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker's Mary Grace Hess and Kira Baker were selected as the Musco Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week following their performances in the Wildcats' four-game sweep this past weekend.

Hess went 7-for-12 in BU's back-to-back sweeps of Graceland and William Penn this past weekend, hitting a pair of home runs in game two against the Yellowjackets, including a game-winning home run in the top of the seventh. Overall, she had hits in all but two of her at-bats in Lamoni, Iowa with five RBI.

Kira Baker earned three wins in four games this weekend, starting it off by throwing a one-hitter and tallying 13 strikeouts against Graceland in game one before pitching two scoreless innings of relief in game two. The sophomore from Eudora, Kan. went on to record a shutout against the Statesmen on Sunday, securing a 1-0 win for the Wildcats with six more strikeouts to her weekend total.

Due to projected inclement weather, BU's final Heart series of the regular season has been pushed up as the Wildcats will now face MidAmerica Nazarene on Wednesday, April 24 at Noon in Olathe, Kan.
