Bio
Tony Austin embarks on his first, full season as Baker head softball coach for the 2024-25 season after serving as the interim for 10 games (9-1) in the spring of 2024 before being promoted on April 26, 2024.
Joining the staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2023, Austin helped guide the Wildcats to another terrific spring where they went 34-16 overall, winning 30 or more games for the second straight season and earning back-to-back NAIA appearances for the second time in program history. The Wildcats went 17-7 in conference play and, with Austin stepping in as the interim head coach, closed out the regular season by winning nine of their last 10 games to earn the No. 2 seed for the Heart Softball Conference Tournament. BU had five players earn All-Heart honors with Kira Baker and Savannah Bray joining Mary Grace Hess on the first team, while Madi Ball and Riley Phillips were second-team selections.
Prior to coming to Baldwin City, Austin served as an assistant coach for fellow Heart of America Conference team Park for two seasons, helping the Pirates to earn their first 20-win campaign in six years after posting a 21-22 record last year.
With over 20 years of coaching experience, he has been a travel ball coach within the Originals KC organization since 2014.
