Wildcats Fall to No. 8 Central Methodist in Fayette on Saturday

FAYETTE, Mo. – Despite 16 points from Jaelyn Two Hearts, the Baker women's basketball team dropped a road conference game against No. 8 Central Methodist on Saturday, 68-50.

Baker was led in scoring on the day by Jaelyn Two Hearts who scored 16 points, going 6-for-14 from the field. Two Hearts also led the Wildcats in rebounds with eight, while Leah Van Weelden and Emma Cunningham each scored nine points.

It took almost five minutes for Baker to get their first points of the first quarter, but after trailing 10-1, the Wildcats fought their way back in the final four minutes of the quarter and tied the game at 14 on a basket from Two Hearts.

With 8:11 left in the first half, a basket by Leah VanWeelden gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game at 17-16. CMU then went on a late run in the second quarter to grab a 27-23 lead heading into halftime.

The Eagles continued that run into the third quarter as they stretched their lead to as much as 14 points, but Baker would not go away as they were able to cut the lead to just 10 points heading into the fourth and final quarter.

Early in the fourth, Baker cut the lead to eight, but the Eagles got hot and eventually stretched their lead to 19 points as they eventually defeated the Wildcats, 68-50.

Baker is now 0-8 on the season and 0-4 in Heart of America play. They will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 29, when they host Park University at 5:30 p.m., inside the Collins Center.
