Wildcats Drop First Conference Road Matchup vs. Clarke, 80-64

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Baker women's basketball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa, this weekend where they lost to the Clarke Pride by a score of 80-64.

Baker's Alyssa Morris led the team in scoring with 18 points, while Taniya Tease and Harley Baker also reached double figures with 14 and 11 points respectively. Morris also pulled down 10 rebounds for first double-double of the season.

Baker came out of the gates slow in this one and was outscored 14-2 in the first seven minutes of the game. For the rest of the quarter, a Morris three and a layup from Tease was the only scoring Baker would have in the quarter as they trailed 18-7 after one quarter of play.

With 4:30 to go in the first half, Baker was able to cut the lead to 29-24, but Clarke would stretch their lead back to double digits before halftime, taking a 41-30 lead into the break.

After scoring the first basket of the second half, Baker would go without a field goal for the next three minutes. Baker were unable to create a run in the third, as the Pride carried their lead into the final quarter, 62-46.

Every time the Wildcats looked to gain momentum, the Pride were able to slow it down and the Wildcats were unable to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, losing the game, 80-64.

Baker is now 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in Heart of America play. They are back inside the Collins Center on Wednesday, November 20, as they host Park University at 5:30 p.m.
