MARSHALL, Mo. – Despite a 24-point night from Destiny Kiner, the Baker women's basketball team fell to Missouri Valley on Wednesday evening, 79-58.
Kiner's 24 points marks a new season-high, while Rihanna Blanchard was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 11 points. Four different players knocked down three-pointers in the game including Kiner, Alyssa Morris, Maggie Myers and Hallie Smires.
Baker got on the board first with a free throw to start the game, but the Wildcats went without a field goal for the first four minutes of the game as the Vikings took the lead. By the end of the quarter a layup by the Vikings extended their lead to 17-9. Another 17-point quarter by the Vikings in the second quarter helped Missouri Valley add to their lead as the game went to halftime with Baker trailing 34-20.
After Missouri Valley won the third quarter and took a 55-34 lead into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats battled throughout the fourth quarter but could not go on a run to mount a comeback as the Wildcats fell, 79-58.
Baker is now 2-13 on the season and 1-12 in Heart of America play. They will be back at home on Saturday, January 18, when they host Culver-Stockton at 12 p.m., inside the Collins Center.
