Miller Finishes Runner-Up, Wildcats Open Season at Mid States Championships

WICHITA, Kan. - Coming off a 2022-23 season that saw the women's team claim their fourth straight conference championship, Baker bowling began its 2023-24 campaign by competing in the Mid States Championships this past weekend in Wichita, Kan.

The BU women earned a top-10 finish in the season-opening tournament after placing ninth overall with a team score of 8,646. The Wildcat men finished 21st out of a 32-team field with a score of 9,002.

Senior Kinsey Miller picked up runner-up honors after posting an average of 202.5 to place second among the 203 bowlers in Wichita. Hailee McCormick tied for 31st after bowling an average of 178 and Audrey Valdez followed closely behind, finishing tied for 38th.

On the men's side, Josh King led the Wildcats in scoring with his tournament average of 191.83 tying him for 71st place. Tanner Eckerle finished in the top-80 as well as the senior from Weather Lake, Mo. placed 79th on an average of 189.67.

The Wildcats host their first home tournament of the fall with the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge taking place on Oct. 28-29 with the women's competition being played at Gage Bowl in Topeka, Kan. and the men's at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan.
