Baker Bowling Closes Out 2023 with Vegas Tournaments

LAS VEGAS – The Baker bowling teams ended the 2023 year competing in the Glenn Carlson Invitational and the Collegiate Shootout in Las Vegas over the holiday break.

Starting off, both teams competed in the Glenn Carlson Invitational where the women finished 13th after nine games with an overall total of 8,059, missing out on the top eight by 333 pins. Individually, the team was led by Kinsey Miller, who placed 7th overall with a 208.33 average. Miller bowled her high game in game six when she bowled a 278.  Baker's next highest finisher was Dylan Holmes who averaged 178.67 for nine games and finished 48th.

On the men's side of the Glenn Carlson Invitational, the men finished 23rd with a total pinfall of 8,203, missing out on match play by 170 pins. Individually, Josh King led the team, placing 30th averaging 193.9. King bowled his highest game in game two of the tournament when he bowled a 252.  The men's next highest finisher was Tanner Eckerle who averaged 183.7 and finished 58th.

Moving onto the Collegiate Shootout, the second tournament of the week, the women posted an overall score of 7,766, to finish the tournament in 19th.  The women were once again led by Miller, who placed 19th overall with a 192 average for six games. Miller bowled her high game in game three when she bowled a 237. Baker's next highest finisher was Audrey Valdez who averaged 186.67 for six games.

The men posted an overall score of 8,367, to finish the tournament in 31st.  Individually, the team was led by Brett Gamber, who placed 50th overall with a 202 average for six games.  He bowled his high game, 225, in game five.  The next highest finisher on the men's side for Baker was Eckerle, who averaged 193.3 to finish 83rd.

Both bowling teams will be back in action Jan. 27-28 when they travel to the Eagle Open in Belton, Mo.
