Suchor Named Baker University’s Next Head Bowling Coach

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Following a thorough national search, Baker University Athletic Director Susan Decker has announced the hiring of Casey Suchor as head coach of the Baker men's and women's bowling programs.

"I am very excited to have Casey joining our staff and leading our Baker bowling programs," said Decker. "I believe in his leadership and vision for the program and I believe he understands the importance of the overall student experience. He will be a great asset to not only the bowling program, but to Baker University as a whole."

Suchor joins the Wildcats after bowling collegiately for Mount Mercy from 2020-2023 before going on to join the Mustangs coaching staff as a volunteer bowling coach this past year. Additionally, he has served as a graduate assistant for the Mount Mercy women's golf team during the 2023-24 season.

"I am so excited to start leading the Baker Bowling men's and women's teams to new heights," said Suchor. "Meeting with the players has shown me that the team is ready to learn and grow, and they are excited to compete for the conference championship (and beyond) once again."

During his time as a student-athlete in Cedar Rapids, Suchor was a part of a Mustangs bowling team that reached the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Nationals three years in a row and was named team captain in his final season. He was recognized with the team's Unsung Hero Award and named the Comeback Player of the Team.

"I was happy to choose Baker University for this position because of their strong academic and athletic standing," added Suchor. "Strong administrative support is also evident, and makes me even more confident about getting started on the right track. Go Wildcats!"

Suchor takes over the reins for longtime head coach Cheryl Keslar, who retired after a decorated 14-year career at the helm of the Baker bowling programs. Under Keslar, the Wildcats won a total of five Heart of America Conference championships and qualified for NAIA Nationals four straight years on the women's side.
