Women Finish Ninth, Men Finish 17th at 2024 Leatherneck Classic

ROCKFORD, Ill. – After earning a pair of top-six finishes at their home tournament last time out, the Baker bowling teams had another strong showing this past weekend, traveling to Rockford, Ill. compete in the 24th-Annual Leatherneck Classic.

The BU women had a slow start to the tournament, starting in 17th after their first game, but fought back to move up a few spots and end their day one in 10th. Senior Dylan Holmes led the way finishing 20th, with a total pinfall of 979 for an average just under 196. Fellow senior Audrey Valdez followed close behind with an average just under 193 to finish in 23rd.

The women were in 10th for most of day two of the Leatherneck Classic, chipping away at their deficit. Their highest baker set came in set three, where they had a 786 total for four games. The women would end their day jumping into ninth, only 127 pins out of eighth place.

The Wildcat men had a good start to their tournament, posting a first-game total of 993 to put them in 12th. They held steady throughout the rest of the day to end the first day of the tournament in 13th. Freshman Paul Stigall led the Wildcats individually, placing 27th with a 213 average. Josh King was the next-highest Wildcat, finishing 41st with a 209 average.

The men had a strong start to their day two as well with a first set total of 823 for four baker games. BU hit a rough patch to close out the day though, posting totals of 677, 797, and 649. The Wildcats would leave Rockford in 17th place.

Both teams will be back in action November 22nd and 23rd as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the NAIA Invitational I and II.
