
Baker Bowling Closes Out 2024 with Las Vegas Tournaments
LAS VEGAS – Over the holiday break, the Baker bowling teams traveled to their annual Las Vegas tournaments, competing first in the Glenn Carlson Invitational and then right into the Collegiate Shootout.
Starting off with the Glenn Carlson Invitational, the women finished 24th after eight games with an overall total of 6,921. Individually, the team was led by Skyler Holmes, who placed 44th overall with a 191.13 average. Kaleigh Buckalew finished 88th to join Holmes in the top-100 for the first tournament of their trip.
On the men's side of the Glenn Carlson Invitational, the men finished 32nd with a total pinfall of 7,414. Individually, junior Ken Rowland led the team, placing 57 on an average of 198.1. Rowland bowled his highest game in game one of the tournament when he bowled a 220. The men's next-highest finisher was Josh King who followed not far behind finishing in 59th with a 197.9 average.
Competing in their second tournament of the week, the women posted an overall score of 7,453, to finish 14th at the Collegiate Shootout. The women were led by Buckalew, who placed 37th overall with a 189.2 average for five games. Buckalew bowled her high game in game two when she bowled 213. Baker's next highest finisher was Holmes, who averaged 185 for five games finishing in 48th.
The men posted an overall score of 7,954, to finish their side of the Collegiate Shootout in 27th. Individually, the team was once again led by Rowland who placed 17th overall with a 222.2 average for five games. His highest game of the tournament was game five when he bowled a 243. The next highest finisher on the men's side for Baker was King, who averaged 210.4 to finish 56th.
The Wildcats will be back in action Jan. 25-26 when they travel to the Eagle Invite in Belton, Mo.
