Martin-Montero Earns Top-Three Finish, Wildcats Host Season-Opening Tournament at Sycamore Ridge

SPRING HILL, Kan. - Kicking off the 2024 spring season, the Baker golf teams hosted its home tournament on Monday and Tuesday with the Shootout at Sycamore, held at the Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kan., where the BU women finished fourth overall, while the men came in fifth.

Paula Martin-Montero placed third individually after shooting a 163 for the tournament. She closed things out with a great round on Tuesday, marking the second-best score of the final round with a 79.

With Martin-Montero leading the way, the Wildcat women took fourth in the team standings with a final tally of 730, finishing just a few strokes behind third-place Grand View (726). Reagan Kauth shot an 88 on Monday's first-round action to finish with a score of 179.

On the men's side, the Wildcats shot a combined score of 650 to place fifth with Ben Lemke pacing the team with a 159 to finish 12th among the individual leaderboard. Gavin Dines (161) and Drew Lisec (163) followed right behind with Dines shooting a 76 on day one and Lisec closing out with an 80 to place 22nd overall.

Up next, Baker heads to its first road tournament of the spring with a trip to the Central Baptist Invite on March 18-19 at the Cypress Creek Golf Club in Cabot, Ark.
