Martin-Montero Selected Heart Women’s Golfer of the Week

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Paula Martin-Montero of the Baker women's golf team was named this week's Heart Women's Golfer of the Week after coming in second place at the Tabor Invite last week.

Playing in Hesston, Kan., Martin-Montero secured her third straight top-five finish after shooting a tournament-best 77 in round one and earning second place on a final score of 159. Overall, the Wildcats finished second in the team standings with a combined score of 669.

The junior from Moraleja de Enmedio, Spain took third at Baker's season-opening tournament of the spring before placing fifth at the Central Baptist Invite in late March which resulted in her first player of the week recognition.

It marks the third straight week a BU golfer has received the honor as the Wildcats boast four of the seven Heart weekly honorees this season. Ben Lemke won on the men's side last week, while Drew Lisec joined Martin-Montero in sweeping the men's and women's awards on March 25.

Martin-Montero and the rest of the BU women's golf squad are closing out the 2024 regular season with the final day of the Bethany Invite getting underway this morning (April 9) in Newton, Kan.

Following today's season finale, Baker will head next to the Heart of America Conference Women's Golf Championships on April 22-23 in Moravia, Iowa.
