Women Finish Runner-Up, Men Take Third at 2025 Baker Invite

LAWRENCE, Kan. – In their first competition of the spring, the Baker golf teams hosted the 2025 Baker Invite on Monday and Tuesday out at Eagle Bend Golf Course where the BU women placed second and the men finished in third.

The Wildcat women (+52) marked a score of 314 on both days, setting the program's 18-hole team record in back-to-back rounds, to earn runner-up honors in the five-team field. Taylor (+44) finished eight strokes ahead of BU to claim the team title at Baker's home event.

The rest of the field featured Des Moines Area CC (+114) in third, Hastings (+131) in fourth and Ottawa (+141) in fifth.

Paula Martin-Montero (+10) and Reagan Kauth (+11) finished in back-to-back spots to pace the BU women with Martin-Montero placing third and Kauth following in fourth. Martin-Montero posted the highest score of the whole field in yesterday's first round with a 75, while Kauth shot a 74 in her final round to shoot up the leaderboard.

Madison Zubeck (+13) shot a 77 on the first day and took sixth overall. Ally Laverty (+18) recorded consecutive scores of 81 and finished ninth. Rounding out BU's lineup, Olivia Morgan came in 19th with an 86 in her final round.

After sitting in fifth following Monday's opening round, the BU men (+21) responded by shooting even in Tuesday's finale to claim third place, finishing one stroke ahead of fourth place Taylor (+22).

Fellow Heart of America Conference teams Park (-5) and Grand View (+14) placed top two for the event, while remaining conference foes MidAmerica Nazarene (fifth), Culver-Stockton (sixth) and Graceland (eighth) rounded out the top-eight finishers.

Gavin Dines (+5) and Ben Lemke (+5) tied for 10th individually in the men's leaderboard with the BU golfers flip-flopping scores between the two days. Drew Lisec (+6) finished a stroke behind his teammates and tied for 13th with a 72 in his second round.

Keegan Feder (+9) tallied Baker's highest score of the tournament with a 70 on Tuesday to place 25th among the field. Carson Schlup (+10) also had a great final round where he shot even and finished 29th overall.

The Baker golf teams will hit the links again later this month when they travel to Hesston, Kan. for the Hesston Spring Shootout on March 31 - April 1.
