Women’s Soccer Falls to Clarke, 4-0 in Homecoming Matchup

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker women's soccer fell to Heart of America opponent Clarke, 4-0 on Saturday evening in Baldwin City.

Following a scoreless first half, the Pride notched four goals in the second half to keep their undefeated conference record intact.

Baker recorded six of its seven shots in the match in the second half with seven different Wildcats registering a shot, including a shot on goal by Darcy Cato in the 87th minute.

With the BU defense keeping a Clarke team that launched 16 shots in the first half off the scoreboard in the first 45 minutes of play, the Pride eventually broke through, starting with a goal in the 51st minute.

Clarke's sophomore midfield Laryssa Pritchard tallied back-to-back goals to give the Pride a 3-0 lead after she scored in the 57th minute and then completed her brace in the 68th minute.

In the final two minutes of action, the Pride added their final goal on a score by Shannon Catchur to earn the conference win over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats created a string of productive chances in the 71st minute, beginning with a nice 2-on-1 breakaway for Lydia Brinker and Emma Schieber with Schieber slipping a pass to Brinker whose shot just missed wide of the goal. Then, following a BU corner kick, Sadie Dipman-Hayward was able to knock a header to an open Schieber, but the junior forward's shot also landed off target.

Baker is back in action with a midweek makeup game against William Penn on Wednesday, Sept. 27 with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Hartley Field in Baldwin City.
