Albright, Young Collect All-Conference Honors

BALDWIN CITY - After helping the Wildcats earn their sixth straight conference tournament appearance, Macie Albright and Avery Young of the Baker women's soccer team were selected to the 2024 Heart Women's Soccer All-Conference Team, presented by Baron.

It was the first all-conference nod for both players with the BU duo landing on the All-Heart Second Team.

Albright, a senior defender from Shawnee, Kan., started all 17 games in the Baker backline, leading the Wildcats to post four shutouts during the regular season, including back-to-back clean sheets in the final two games. She earned one assist this fall after setting up a goal in BU's 7-2 victory over McPherson at the beginning of the year. Overall, Albright has played in 60 matches with three goals and two assists in her four-year career.

Young, a freshman goalie from Spring Hill, Kan., made 16 starts in goal this year after taking over for the injured Taylor Evans one game into the season. She racked up 94 saves and tallied three solo shutouts, while combining on another one. Young received conference player of the week honors twice this fall with her latest one coming this week after earning a 2-0 shutout at Park on Saturday.

With Albright and Young, the Baker defense came through with back-to-back shutouts in the final two games of the regular season with the 2-0 win at Park clinching the Wildcats' spot in the Heart Tournament.

As the No. 7 seed, Baker will take on No. 2 Benedictine in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Heart Women's Soccer Conference Tournament, presented by WinWon, tonight (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. in Atchison, Kan.
