Wildcats Track & Field Continues Indoor Campaign at Pitt State’s Crimson & Gold Invite

MEET RESULTS

PITTSBURG, Kan. – After kicking off the indoor season at KU last weekend, the Baker men's and women's track and field teams traveled to its first of two indoor meets at Pitt State this year, competing at the Gorillas' Crimson and Gold Invite on Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan.

The Wildcats had a handful of athletes improve on their marks from last week's season-opener and earned a total of nine top-30 finishes at the competitive meet which featured over 20 NCAA schools and fellow Heart of America teams Benedictine, Central Methodist and Park.

Alexis Summers clocked a 7.91 in the 60-meter dash to place 42nd in the first of three races for the freshman from Kansas City, Mo. She earned an 18th-place finish in the 200-meter dash before wrapping up her busy day with the 300m where she ran a 42.11 and came in 21st.

Tavius Woodall and Deanthony Williams each finished in the top-50 of a competitive men's 60-meter race with Woodall finishing 34th overall and Williams crossing just past the seven-second mark (7.02) and finishing in 50th.

Woodall added a 27th-place finish in the 200m after improving on his mark from last week (22.39) as well with a 22.14 in Saturday's race. Jayden Hope followed closely behind Woodall with his time of 22.36 putting him 32nd in the event.

Jamesperry Frazier shaved a few ticks off his season-opening time in the 60-meter hurdles (8.85), running an 8.79 to finish 51st.

In the 600-yard dash, Kemaro Neil placed fourth in the men's race with his time of 1:13.87, while Rachel Sterner ran a 1:33.07 and finished 15th in the women's race.

Kameron Glasper finished 27th with a throw of 14.61 meters in the men's weight throw, while freshman Caden West registered an 11.63-meter mark in the men's shot put to finish 38th in the event.

Wyatt Allen represented the BU distance group in the men's mile race where he ran a time of 4:46.05 and finished in 63rd.

Baker's men's 4x400-meter relay team took 14th in BU's lone relay team in Pittsburg with Woodall, Neil, Trot Wood and Alexander Claessens finishing with a combined time of 3:21.40.

With the winter break coming up, the Wildcats won't be in action again until Jan. 20, 2024 with a trip to the Northwest Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State. Field events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and running events at 12 p.m., all inside the Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo.
