Woodall Sweeps Sprints, Wildcats Post Strong Marks at Concordia Classic

SEWARD, Neb. – Tavius Woodall placed first in both the 60-meter and 200-meter sprints to lead a Baker track and field team that finished with a total of 10 top-five finishes at the Concordia Classic on Saturday.

Competing in their second meet of 2024, the Wildcats boasted runner-up outings in the women's long jump and men's mile with Naomi Kilson marking a leap of 5.52 meters to take second in the long jump and Jaden Vohs running a mile time of 4:38.57 to finish second in the race.

Starting things off with a season-best time, Woodall clocked a 6.91 in the finals of the 60m before going on to add his second title of the meet with a top-time of 22.41 in the 200m.

Trot Wood joined Woodall with a couple of top-seven finishes in the sprints as well, placing third in the 200m with a time of 22.64 and coming in seventh in the 60m. Kilson added a sixth-place finish in the women's 60m and an eighth place in the 200m to cap off an impressive day for the senior from Long Beach, Calif.

Vohs' second place in the mile was the first of three Wildcats to finish among the first eight runners in the event with Wyatt Allen (4:42.22) placing sixth and Donald Chambers (4:48.68) coming in eighth. Haley Thompson and Kiley Hawk finished back-to-back in the women's 3,000m race walk with Thompson (25:20.87) placing third and Hawk (26:50.27) following in fourth.

In the women's 600m, Rachel Sterner recorded a time of 1:45.28 to round out the top five in the race with a fifth-place finish. Jana Landreth put together a top-10 finish in the women's 800m with a two-lap time of 2:37.90 to finish in ninth.

McLane Rawie's third-place showing in the long jump and a fourth place from fellow freshman Dontez Carr in the triple jump highlighted things for BU in the field events. Rawie marked a leap of 6.74 meters to take third in the long jump before finishing behind Carr in the triple jump in seventh.

Jackson Stoppel hit a new indoor-best in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.05 meters which placed him eighth overall in the event.

Up next, the Wildcats will head to the Washburn Open this weekend with the two-day meet slated to start at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 with multi events. Action will continue on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., all held on the Ichabod's campus in Topeka, Kan.
