Barnard, Chambers Earn Top-25 Finishes at 2024 NAIA Marathon Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ellie Barnard and Kristi Chambers represented Baker as the pair competed at the 2024 NAIA Marathon Classic on Sunday in Sacramento, Calif.

Among the nearly 50 NAIA runners, Barnard placed 10th with a time of 3:09:48 and Chambers came in 23rd with a time of 3:24:13.

The NAIA Marathon runs in conjunction with the California International Marathon which featured over 8,350 total runners.

Barnard, a junior from Eudora, Kan., is coming off a 2024 cross country season that saw her qualify for nationals for the first time and earn All-Heart honors after placing 10th at Heart of America Conference Cross Country Championships.

Chambers, a senior from Tonganoxie, Kan., came in 17th at the conference meet, helping the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the team standings.

Both runners turn their attention to the indoor season which kicked off this past weekend at KU's Bob Timmons Challenge. The Wildcats will be back in action following the holiday break with the Coach Richard Alsup Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State, on Jan. 18 in Maryville, Mo.
