Wildcats Land Four on Heart Volleyball All-Conference Teams

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker volleyball was represented by four players – Kierra Hipple, Reese Kehl, Meredith Brown and Kylie Murray – on the 2023 Heart of America Volleyball All-Conference Teams as the league announced their postseason honors on Tuesday.

Hipple (Jr., Raymore, Mo.) was named to the All-Heart Second Team after leading the Wildcats with a team-high 213 kills this season, while adding 94 digs and 17 service aces to her junior campaign. She played in all 27 matches this year for BU, recording double-digit kills in 10 games with her season high coming in a match at Southwestern on Sept. 20 where she had 14 kills in four sets.

In her first season as a Wildcat, Kehl (Fr., Gardner, Kan.) earned a spot as a third team all-conference selection after tallying 423 digs, 78 assists and 17 aces in 2023. Her 423 digs ranked 11th in the Heart with over 250 of those (253) coming against conference opponents. The freshman libero recorded her first career double-double in that Sept. 20 match against the Moundbuilders where she had 22 digs and 10 assists.

Middle blockers Brown (So., Olathe, Kan.) and Murray (Fr., Florissant, Ill.) collected honorable mention honors after finishing with a combined 104 blocks this year. Playing in all 27 matches, the newcomer Murray registered 159 kills, 24 aces and hit .179 in her freshman season at BU. Brown finished with 125 kills in 22 matches played this season, hitting over .200 (.203) and earning 11 solo blocks in her 2023 outing.

Baker volleyball finished with a 9-18 overall record to match its most wins in a season since 2019, while going 4-13 in conference play in the second year under head coach Nils Nielsen.
