No. 19 Baker Defeats (RV) Missouri Valley, 32-15 in Conference Home Dual

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Settling the score from last week's match at the NWCA meet, No. 19 Baker women's wrestling topped conference opponent (RV) Missouri Valley, 32-15 on Wednesday evening inside a snow-covered Collins Center.

After MVC won Friday's matchup in the first day of the NWCA National Duals, the Wildcats came back by going 5-2 in their matches on Wednesday with three of the wins coming by way of pins.

Abbie Jones and Reagan Wonnell provided the night's biggest momentum swing with back-to-back pins as Jones, who had fallen behind in the round, battled back to deliver an emphatic takedown in the 136-pound match before Wonnell followed suit with a pin at 143 pounds.

Following a BU forfeit at 101 pounds, the 109-pound match featured a top-20 matchup between Baker's Kylee Slyter, who ranks 20th nationally, and MVC's 12th-ranked Hailey Holland. Slyter, a sophomore from Paola, Kan., came out on top with a 4-2 decision to move to 15-12 overall on the year and give the Wildcats their first win of the dual.

With Baker carrying a 23-15 lead, Jaclyn Daley and Elisa Robinson sealed the victory for BU with consecutive wins to close out the match. Daley wrestled to a tech fall win in her bout at 170 pounds before Robinson tacked on BU's final pin of the night in the 191-pound match.

Up next, Baker is scheduled to hop back into tournament action this weekend with the York Open on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. in York, Neb.
